Our guests are housed in unique, large, fully insulated chalets, with space outside for play time.
All Cats are treated as individuals, and we try and accommodate all their special needs. The Firs is a home from home where we will care for and pamper your special companions as if they were our own.
The Firs Luxury Boarding Cattery has been established for over 50 years, and Nicola Quadling is the proud owner of this unique Cattery in Walesby, North Nottinghamshire. Nicola has had a range of experience with all types of animals since an incredibly young age.
Cats and dogs in particular have played the biggest part of her life but she has also shared her heart with rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, tortoises, budgies and fish! Nicola is also a professional canine and feline groomer, and currently offers this service to cats!

The Firs Cattery is not a ’job’ to Nicola it is her forever home where she gets to look after and love all of the cats that come and stay here!
With Nicola at the head of The Firs Family, there are also staff members that care and love all the feline companions that come and relax on their holiday, and we are pleased to introduce you to them…
Lisa
Lisa as our Cattery Manager brings a lifetime of animal care and business expertise to our team. Lisa has completed a formal qualification in Kennel & Cattery Management and owned her own pet shop. Lisa also has extensive experience in veterinary environments and her clinical knowledge and deep understanding of cat health means your pets are in exceptionally safe hands. Lisa does not own a cat at the moment…..but I have no doubt we can change her mind on that one!!
Jasmine
Jasmine is a Cattery Assistant and also our Team Leader. Jasmine has a dog and two cats. Bucky the cat was one of Bluebell’s babies, born here at the cattery, the second came in with its sibling and Jasmine fell in love immediately……so Yelena went home with her once she was ready. Jasmine is also known as the secret cat cuddler! Any cuddly cats that are boarding with us get extra hugs from Jasmine
The rest of the team
The rest of the team all do part time hours as Cattery Assistants but they know all the cats that board with us. They too are all animal lovers and play an important role within the cattery. They are:

We understand that for some cat parents, leaving your special member of the family can be hard for you, but here at The Firs, we do our best to ensure that you leave knowing your cat is going to get as much TLC as it would like!
Our Chalets are much larger than the average Cattery, including the Penthouse and Family Chalets, which are great for active, young cats, a family of cats, or long-term boarders. These Chalets are also ideal for larger cat breeds.
When your feline companion comes to relax with us, their holiday accommodation is unique for its size; its indoor living area is spacious, fully insulated and heated.
Cats also have plenty of covered outdoor space where they can laze about, play, climb and generally enjoy themselves.
5 star treatment at a 5 star cattery
The Firs Cattery was last inspected by Newark & Sherwood District Council in September 2025 and was awarded 5 Stars under the new rating system. The Firs Luxury Boarding Cattery achieved the Higher Standard points and the Optional Higher points, so you can be assured your feline friend will always receive a 5 star treatment!
